MY BLOG!

I have a gaming addiction

Trying to control it by “just not playing” is not enough for me. It is too tempting for me, because it is just 1 click away! I want to continue to have fun yet I feel like I am wasting my life and it affects other areas of my life. I cannot stop gaming, I always come back to it. It is like a drug to me, and it only has 2 extreme choices. I am addicted to the feeling of winning, losing, striving, improving, dominating and game vanities. I can only control it if i remove it from my life entirely, but I cannot find an alternative activity to compensate these feelings.

So we just bend over… right?

Today, the professor was reiterating how our assignment was due in the middle of finals. I openly told him we have other finals and we have other things to do too. The professor replied and said, “Would you rather have it due earlier?” I told him that is not what I am suggesting, and I was just saying this because his homeworks take a lot of time especially when his notes are not exactly helpful to the point where I do not have to do hours and hours of Googling suggest to finish an assignment. Some of my peers do not even complete their homework because of this! And the part-time professor wonders why some people do not complete their homework. I justed wanted him to consider being in our shoes. But, it does not bother me that he responded this way, it was as expected, but some student goes ahead and say “Welcome to college”. For fuck sakes, I am trying to improve our experience and this guy wants to be a douche. What? Are you saying, in college, we have to always bend over to the professors demands? I am saying, it does not have to be that way and it can be better. Education is a two way street, afterall.

Corona SDK

My friend and I went to a mobile app meeting today featuring a mobile app developer as a guest speaker. I’m tired, so to the point: he introduced us to Corona SDK.

SJSU is Different

After transferring to a 4 year college from a City College, wow, what a drastic change. Pace is so different, but more importantly, the Computer Science department cares about its students. I just felt so welcomed during the transfer orientation. When I met our CS advisor, I never would have expected her o hand me a sheet of paper with the classes I need to take. She also showed us the shortest and quickest roads for us to graduate by telling us what classes can be double counted and various other little things. There’s also a mentor program here where we have to meet with a CS mentor 4-5 times a semester to discuss our progress in our classes and to provide support and help for us for whatever what need help with. Coming from a place where I had to plan all my classes myself and where the Computer Science department was nothing more than a place where professors took their breaks, this was a huge change. They practically held my hand and gave me everything that I could want; they really exceeded my expectations. Loving SJSU so far.

$100 Worth of Scratchers AGAIN

So, I thought it was really fun the last time I spent $100 on scratchers, so I thought I would give it another try. Today, I spent $100 for fifty $2 scratchers; I bought fifty Jeweled 7’s scratchers. By now, the people at the 7 Eleven store already recognized me. They were not shocked at all this time when I asked them for fifty scratchers. They actually had to open a new pack for me since there was not enough in the current stack, and eventually ran out of Jeweled 7’s because of me.

Scratcher Details

  • Match any of “YOUR NUMBERS” to either “WINNING NUMBER,” win that prize. Uncover a “7″ symbol to automatically win that prize. Uncover a JEWELED symbol to automatically win 7 times that prize.

Set 1

I stopped buying Tic Tac Toe because I already took the “big” win in that game, so I thought it would be least likely to have another big win, so I picked Jeweled 7’s because they had the most similar statistics to Tic Tac Toe.  Here is a stack of $100 Jeweled 7’s.

$100 of Jeweled 7s - Set 1

Jeweled 7’s was pretty exciting. I found only one JEWELED symbol, and I found quite a few 7 symbols. My winning results were quite impressive, especially since I pretty much broke even. Here are the winning tickets:

$100 Worth of Scratchers

I bought $100 worth of scratchers today. The idea sparked when I was sitting in class while day dreaming. I thought it would be fun to buy $100 worth of scratchers. My little experiment turned out to be pretty interesting especially since… well… I would not want to spoil it.

I bought all of my scratchers from one place, 7 Eleven. I bought fifty $2 tic tac toe scratchers. I was originally going to buy one hundred of $1 scratchers, but I changed my mind since I have better luck with the $2 scratchers.

Scratcher Details

  • Odds of winning any prize 1:4.31; cash prize 1:7.58.
  • Players winning a free ticket in this game are entitled to a free ticket valued at two dollars ($2).

Set 1

Scratches Set 1 (50 Count)

First scratcher, first win!

Winning Scratchers - Set 1 - First Win

For the first few, I was trying to play tic tac toe by scratching one space at a time, but that took too long, so I ended up just scratching everything in big swipes. After scratching all 50 tickets, I was left with only 7 winning tickets, but I went back and double checked each ticket and found 2 more winning scratchers totaling 9 winning scratchers. These are the winning tickets.

Winning Scratchers - Set 1

Overall, I had 9 winning scratchers out of 50, which is pretty good in my opinion. That is an 18% winning for this set. I won a total of $20 cash and 6 tickets which is $32 in total value. Quite a reasonable winning percentage, but I was no where near close to breaking even. However, I used the $32 for a new set and bought more scratchers.

9 TICKET x1 $2.00
Total Cash Winnings $20.00
Total Value of Winnings $32.00
Winning Percentage 9/50 = 18%

Set 2

From the winnings of the first set, I was able to get 12 more scratchers ($32).

Scratches Set 2 (16 Count)

This one was much more exciting because I had found 4 winning tickets, which is a 33.3% winning percentage, but that was not the best part. The 1st winning ticket, I had won $3. The 2nd ticket, I had won $6. The 4th ticket, I had won another TICKET. Next, I jumped off my chair screaming “YEAHH!!!”. I was jumping and throwing up two fists in the air, smiling like crazy; I was happy and excited because in the 3rd ticket, I had won $400!!!! Four hundred dollars, wow! It was one of the greatest moments of my life!

Winning Scratchers - Set 2

I went to redeem my prize, but they did not have enough money at the time, so I just redeemed another set of scratchers first using the tickets with smaller winnings. Here are the results for set 2. Update: I did not realize this until I redeemed my prize, but I actually have another win on my $400 ticket totaling $500 cash win! I went ahead and updated all the results

Results for Scratcher Set 2

The last set was pretty good, winning percentage wise. I had two winning tickets out of 6 which is another 33.3 winning percentage. Here are the results for set 3.

What a fun day!  Maybe I will do it again one day if I feel like it or if there is enough demand from people out there reading this.

Update: I checked the odds on CALottery’s website and for my exact ticket, it was 1/24,000.
